JEROME JOHN GARCIA
Yet More Messages of Condolence and Love

Subject: Good Journey's and fond farewell
To all of Jerry's people,
As I sit and cry and laugh and pass the time remembering and experiencing
all of these feelings - feelings I learned to come into tune with
because of the Dead and all my headfriends, I thank everyone and
everthing for allowing me to live my life at the same time that the
Grateful Dead played to the heavens night after night..... teaching me to
love and forgive, accept and not judge - lessons generally reserved for
"higher" institutions to be passed on to new generations .... and yet no
other institution ever has really practiced those messages of peace, love
and understanding as much as Jerry and the rest of the band and family
did.
I wish you all grand voyages through the rest of our time on this pretty
litle ark - Jerry never really died - just his body gave out - the
message is still loud and clear - it is now up to us to keep that message
fresh and teach the next generation what peace, love and understanding is
all about.... I think Jerry would be proud if we all do that.
What a long strange trip it's been........ {{{{{}}}}} >o< hugs&kisses

All of us have a responsibilty to make the world a better place.
Those with the power to do great good are few and far between.
Fewer still are those among them who rise to the occasion.
Jerry did it with grace, and you should all be very proud.
He touched our lives and we are better people for it. Only time
will heal the sense of loss. For what it's worth he will live in
our hearts always. May he rest in peace and may your hearts be
lifted from sadness.
Sincerest condolences,
Kevin and Melissa Flanigan

Another bad day. I thought today would be better, but it isn't.
Went by Pig's grave yesterday with a few beers, and met another mourner.
We popped one for Pig , which immediately fell over and poured on his
marker. The one opened for Jerry sat upright for ten or fifteen seconds,
then fell over on its own, also onto the marker. No shit.
I told my compatriot that some friends and I had taken pictures here last
year that had a weird effect which was only visible on the frames of the
roll showing the marker and us. She mentioned that she had photos of the
the grave on her fridge showing the same effect; a white aura on the
upper right hand corner of the shots.
I'm not sure what I believe about an afterlife, but if those guys are out
there, they seem to be up to the same old tricks.

My father passed away 3 years ago on August the 9th. It's strange that I
should lose two people who were such great influences on me on the same day.
I'm sorry for your loss. We will all miss him.

Subject: A friend I never knew
Dear Family:
I wish to express my condolences on this terrible loss. While our loss seems great
I know yours is even more painful. May the fact that millions who never knew or
met Jerry are grieving with you help you to find comfort in this hard time. He
played a huge role in my life and helped me with his music in times of my own
losses and pain. I really don't know what a summer will be like without the
potential to watch him make his music under the stars. Thank you for the
memories and the joy.

Jerry and the Dead were family, the parents to many "children" including
myself. And as the best parents do, he made our lives better for being
here. Greatly missing the man, we will forever be able to hold onto his
legacy.
For his wife, children, Phil, Bob, Mikey, Bill, Vince, his immediate
Dead family, and all his close personal friends, my heart sinks for your
sorrow yet rejoices at the marvelous run he enjoyed.
His was to shed light and not to master...

My heartfelt condolences to all............
Jerry had a most profound impact on all of us. He came and touched
us, leaving truth, and beauty, and a genuine sense of well-being.
When all seemed hopeless, when everything seemed to cave in
around us, there was always the Dead. How will we ever replace this?
All we can do is what he would want us to do, keep on keepin on.
As we mourn his death, let us not lose sight of the fact we must also
celebrate his life as well. This will not be easy, I know. But we *will* wield
thru the storm and fly.............Doug 8-(

We're all in this together.
We're all closer then ever now.
Now Jerry is forever a part of everyone (and there were a great many)
whose life he touched.
And we all cry together.

I can't say I was ever what might be called a "Deadhead", but I have many
friends who are very dedicated Dead fans, and I've grown to respect what the
Dead and their fans are all about. I share your grief in this time of sorrow,
and I know that Jerry, the Dead, and the way of life they represented will
always have a place in the hearts and minds of those who knew them - including
me.

He meant more to you than to any of us. We heard him and saw him but you
touched him and knew him. While our grief is great, yours must be deeper
because he was truly one of your own.
Deepest sympathies on your loss. A world of dreamers and visionaries
are with you in spirit. We loved him, too.

I never met Jerry personally, yet he has been an intimate part of my life
for over 20 years. His music brought me more joy than I can express.
My condolences to you, his family, who knew and loved him personally,
and experienced personally what I have been hearing in his music all
these years.

Jerry was a storyteller (not the leader of a cult). "His job was to
shed light and not to master". His guitar and his voice where the
essence of something that I could never put my finger on and his songs
still illuminate my life. It is hard to imagine not seeing him do it
again in person. We will miss him terribly but he will always have a
place in our lives.
Thank you Jerry,

Jerry touched millions of people in way no one else ever has. From the
very first time I saw him play, he had an effect on me I can't describe.
Through his music and his being, he taught us love and peace.
He will be greatly missed!
As Jerry said, "What a long strange trip it's been", I wouldn't trade it
for anything. Thank you Jerry!
